I moved Sayaka's mouth upwards, made her nose longer, made her chin longer, and cleaned up the back and sides.

140623 Sayaka/Hibiki update
I started adjusting the thickness of Sayaka's hair spikes, and also tried joining them to the base (although I will have to re-join them once they are all adjusted). I have also started adjusting the shell. I am going to be concentrating on the shell for the next little bit (one thing I definitely have to do is make her nose a bit longer), since Homura will be based on much the same shell and I want to make sure that she is done before Animethon.

Pictures from the Edmonton Pride Festival; Hibiki/Sayaka progress updates
Last Saturday I kigged at the Edmonton Pride Festival (my friend Matthew suggested that I kig there). I didn't walk in the parade or anything (it was already over when I got there). I would say I prefer kigging at cons, although I still enjoyed kigging there.
I had to discard my previous attempt at making Sayaka's hair. Rather than making it by pulling the spikes out of the base using the "grab" and "snake hook" tools (which produced spikes that wouldn't sculpt cleanly since Blender's sculpting tools don't add polygons automatically), I am now making them as separate objects and will join them to a separate base using booleans (both the base and spikes are NURBS models that were converted to meshes). I haven't joined the spikes to the base yet, so they are still quite rough especially at the top (it's only really possible to clean that up once they've all been joined).
I think I've mostly got Hibiki's general shape right, but she still needs quite a few adjustments.

140530 Mask progress updates
I decided to try making Sayaka's hair in Blender with mesh sculpting tools instead of in Ayam with NURBS, since Ayam was giving errors when attempting to skin the curves. I have also started adjusting the shell but still have quite a ways to go.
I am also going to be making myself a new kig. Once I am done Sayaka I am going to be making Homura for myself using a modified version of the same shell. The biggest difference will be that Homura will have to have wigs instead of solid hair since her hair is quite long. I will be making her full-head though since she'll be wider than most other kig masks. I am also going to be making her shield myself, and I want to make it so that all of the moving parts actually move (I will buy her cosplay rather than making it myself though).
I am wanting to have her done for Animethon.
In addition, I am making a full custom of Hibiki Tachibana from Senki Zesshou Symphogear for an undisclosed customer. I am using Ichigo as a starting point for her just like I did for Sayaka (althouh Hibiki's face shape is far closer to Ichigo's than that of anyone from PMMM so there will be less work required to get the shape right). I'll be making her headset as well (I'm not quite sure if I'll print the whole thing; I might make some parts out of foam or something).

Pictures from Otafest
Here are some pictures from Otafest (some of them were taken by other people and are linked to the corresponding Facebook posts). On day 1, Misk (Plutia), Leoji (Maiko), and myself (Erika) were in kig. On day 2, Ryuga_knight (Mew Ichigo) joined us (Leoji and I kigged at the motel after we got back from the con; we were staying in the same room). On day 3 I was the only one kigging (Leoji was spotting for me). Overall, it went well, although we didn't kig quite as much as last year.
I am not sure who else is coming to Animethon yet, although at least Ryuga_knight and Misk are definitely thinking of coming.
